Ha La Lu Ya…

…Where’s the Corona

Following up my recent post of the Enchanted Forest demo, here’s a promotional video I just recorded that shows off the finished environment running in the Torque 3D game engine. The previous video was recorded in TGEA (Torque Game Engine Advanced), which is the last generation of Torque tech.

The most obvious differences in the video are the changes to lighting and minor global tweaks to the color palette for the environment. And the bitchin’ funky background track I added.

Thanks very much Brian! I had a lot of fun working in the cartoony style for a change. I think it’s growing on me.

I don’t know those tech details, but I don’t have to know to see how cool this thing is -Awesome Todd!

Thanks Shingo! Now if only we could have a wii tennis rematch in that environment.

Bro that was heavy… to the Max! I was totally trippin. No seriously – that was like – far out.

    Such a Seventies child.

Hey, you might consider uploading your demos on another video site. Vimeo is a much better site for showcasing a clip like this. Much better resolution than Youtube – but slower upload time. Vimeo also offers a high def option.

    Here’s a link about it: http://news.cnet.com/youtube-sucks-4-sites-that-do-video-better/ and here’s a link to vimeo.com : http://www.vimeo.com/

Yup, you know it. Rockin’ sounds of the seventies!

I will be posting it to vimeo and also adding some product info and branding of some sort soon.

Vimeo banned game related videos time ago, and while your videos are not likely to be subject of deletion, others are, and their snobism and lack of coherence to enforce those rules are crap.

    Also, check this.

Vimeo *looks* good, but HD YouTube is all you need.

And btw, that article from CNet is *really* BAD.

It mentions a set of options to replace youTube (that apparently “sucks”).
    Lets See:

Vimeo: I mentioned the issues about this one above.
Facebook: This is not really a video hosting site, so this is biased, and unproductive.
Veoh: This is the worst. They discontinued the service in multiple countries “…Without prior notice, users from these countries were denied the ability to backup the contents they have contributed to the website….” (Wikipedia)

So the only real value of that article lies on Viddlers, which has a lot of cool features on the videos, yes, but other than that, the cnet link is useless.

Thanks for the tips Novak, by the way, here is one you probably didn’t know. Vimeo is owned by IAC, the same company that owns GG, so that may explain a few things for you regarding (game) video hosting.

I primarily stick with youtube, but any post that will generate traffic is good, since the effort to post it is minimal.

    Hey Todd!

Yes Ive heard about IAC, it was the reason exposed by the GG guys to explain their private deal with Vimeo, and why GG was not in the line of fire (at the time this topic was mentioned in the community).

Still, I dont have quite clear why that should explain the Vimeo’s desition?

At some point, you are probably right, the more references, the best.
