Everything should be as simple as possible…
…And no simpler.
Jaimi McEntire recently posted a video showing off some pretty cool stuff, including the use of the Particle Alignment resource that Adam Larson wrote for my recent content pack update.

Jaimi used the resource for exactly the sort of thing I intended it. This approach for water ripples, boat wakes, etc has been around for ten years, and as you can see, it does the job pretty well. Easy to imagine all sorts of ways to put this to use.
Now if y’all have means and bandwidth to go gettin all fancy with your water effects, then more power to you.
However, it’s my experience that developers often can’t see the forest for all the trees in the way when it comes to delivering an experience for the end user.
